So you suggest i shall mixdown in 24 bit 44.1 khz.. then reopen it in Wavelab to convert it to 16 bit !!!

Why do we have the option to render to 16 bit in sonar then....
( when rendering to 16 bit, i guess dithering is there for a reason.. no ? )

I never had this problem in X3, duhhhh

Are you saying you just exported the project in both X3 and Platinum and the exports are different?

Try the better dithering options, triangle is not very good.  Here's a post with some useful info:

No I use Sonar Platinum, project is the same.... ( i do not have X3 installed ) for a reason ...

* the first is ordinary mixdown from sonar to 16 bit wave

* the second is a ( vst waverecorder ) from voxengo on my master BUSS
recording directly from my Buss to a 16 bit wavefile.

So there's for sure something strange with sonars mixdown chain !

So cakewalk / Bakers : A solution plz

Voxengo Wave Recorder does no dithering, it just truncates.  Try that for your export option.

Also do a 24 bit no dither export and see if it matches what you hear first.

forget the dithering, that's not the issue...

The problem is Sonars Mixdown, you don't get what you hear...

As i said before i never had this problem in X3 ( what i did hear in Sonar X3e )
was what i got regardless of bit depth ( 24 bit or 16 no problem ), when i did Export audio
also regardless dithering or not.

i don't assume anything - where I'd your arp sound routed to - the master - sub and/or possibly a headphone mix. Then when your exporting the song is there any other outs where the sound is being added to the export.

In the past I would be adding unknowingly my headphone out to my master out causing them to sum for a louder and distorted mix than what I would hear when listening to my mains...

When exporting did you try using Master Bus only in the export settings?
Are you exporting a wave?

all instruments softsynths are routed to the master BUSS
