I'm still on X3 e Producer and I'm wondering if the new piano roll in SONAR can do that

Not by manual entry, you can of course capture anything via keyboard

Or lots of vst options
Cthulhu is $39. I don't use the chord feature, but it's a great arpeggiator too-

Or something like this (free) with both 32 bit and 64 bit versions-

I just got done watching the Cthulu video ….

That looks pretty good , it is  different than what I was thinking of doing , yet right up my alley as a tool I could put to good use .
The other plug you mentioned I will also look into …..

Here's what got me on to starting this thread .

I downloaded a program called Helio Workstation by Peter Rudenko
it is free and is Windows and Mac and I have it on both platforms
http://helioworkstation.com

it is a very cool little app and I like it ….if you look under where it says Rock it out and click the screen shot you will see that it brings up the relationships of the triads ….
with one click you can have all the standard Diatonic chord inversions within the key of the one chord you are about to input  ….it makes it very easy to stack very harmonically complex chord inversions w one or two clicks …
I happen to like the music Peter has done w it . So I'm giving this app a go as far as checking it out ….
in less than 2 hours I was able to do things that smoked anything I could have done in a standard piano roll ….
Admittedly  this program is a tough nut to crack since there is no documentation and it is more like a step sequencer ….it takes a bit of getting used to …it renders midi , and a few audio files so anything I do in it I can transfer it over …also it imports midis …
I sort of wish somebody would hire this guy to spruce up the piano roll and add that diatonic chord audition feature
………no affiliation….just digging it ….

have a good one ,

+1, there are some VSTs that will "work" with MIDI output enabled, but is still real time and often more overhead than it's worth. MIDI controllers are the quickest method for chord entry.

The "chord track" feature request has yet to be implemented.

Is it safe for me to assume that what I'm asking about is pretty much along the lines of The " chord track " feature that has yet to be implemented ?

Correct, this is one of the feature requests (it has been mentioned several times). I apologize as I was on my phone earlier, so my replies get very curt.

There are several VSTs which allow you fire chords with single notes, but the ones I have played with require some setup and for the transport to be running to record (the VST's MIDI output).

Bottom line, it is more efficient to actually play them (or get fast on the PRV).

If the guy who made this would allow exporting that MIDI, life would be good (simplistic and effective, but no export ).

Hello mettelus ,

Say , thanks for taking the time to explain things to me
It seems to me that all the worthwhile approaches lead back to learning how to play the keyboards ….
I guess if Grandma Moses can learn how to paint at 78 I can learn how to play the Key's at 29 ooopps I mean twice 29

have a good one ,
