Not sure but I think I may be able to snag this while it's on sale. It was recommended to me ages ago because I do like that old squirrely analog synth bass sound.

Certainly a decent price if it delivers (I'm sure it does since it's Craig). Just wanted to what the owners of this pack think. There aren't any sound examples on the store page.

Got about a week I think before the special's over so yanno... not a rush.

Cheers.

Anyone know if the four required LFOs are now included in the download ?  (see here and here, same thread)

Beep, you probably got the LFOs separately at the same time I did, but I'm wondering about new customers.

I haven't yet gotten around to playing with this myself, so can't help on that front.

Note to Cakewalk :  the image for the MiniMoog pack in the store still says :

EDIT :  I just redownloaded this pack to see for myself, but it's a .exe installer and didn't dare screw up my system.

Well, to call the Minimoog Expansion Pack the greatest achievement in the history of Western civilization would be an understatement.

But seriously...it's very much classic analog sounds, and also very much a tribute to Bob, who was a good friend and a great guy (as well as an amazing source of dirty jokes). Although all the samples were created from my Minimoog, some of the presets replicate sounds I programmed for Oberheim's OB-8. Here's a demo with plenty of sounds:

BTW if you need the four LFOs, I have them.

Personally, I use Electronic Guitars more because nothing sounds like it - after all, I already have a Minimoog . I tried to make the demo for Electronic Guitars as representative as possible of the available sounds, so that should give you a good idea of what the sounds are like. Note: The drums are from Session Drummer.

I misread you above.  I was sure you got the pack last year when it was also 10$.

So again, be aware that you need four LFOs and if they're not included, talk to Craig (and Cakewalk).

I have the Anderton Minimoog library. Having owned a minimoog in the middle ages of synthesis I have always missed the gut pounding fatness of the moog in all other synths. Craig, hands down has done the best job I have ever heard of capturing Bob's handiwork! I really don't get to use the pack as much as I would like to as most of my work involves more traditional instruments but when I have a client that wants that old school synth sound, the project usually ends up with several instances of the Minimoog pack in it! I love it and highly recommend it to anyone that even just dabbles with synths.

First off, thanks to the host(s) who managed to track down and restore this thread. Not sure what happened there and of course not an emergency thread but the effort is appreciated.

@Paul... nope, haven't gotten around to picking it up but I think I've got a few bucks scraggling in my PP that I think should just cover this. Thanks for bringing up the LFO thing. Not sure exactly what the deal is on that (I'll check those threads) but if they round out the MM emulation I'm guessing I'll want them. Also you answered answered something else I was wondering about... the odd picture in the store. Wasn't sure was going on there and was making me wonder exactly what it's relation to the Guitars pack was. Apparently none so confusion begone. Cheers!

@Craig... Cool. The guitars one does sound cool too and looks pretty diverse but I have been aching for a true MM sound for a long time. Zeta gets me close but it just doesn't have the same "warmth" I find... if that makes sense. I notice that your example tune doesn't include the exact sound I'm really jonesing for (that really round, warm, funky porta bass sound) but if the pack includes all the appropriate waveforms and controls to emu an MM I'm guessing that sound is possible. I'm also sure that's not something you'd overlook either. The example does seem to show off how it can produce some modern sounding tones too so that's a good flexibility to have. Thanks and if I get it I'll definitely hit you up at some point for those LFO's. Cheeers!

@Sidroe... Thanks for the review. I trust your opinion on this (and all things to do with "real" sounding emus based on other review type posts you've made that definitely jibe with my own experiences with specific items). Very helpful and actually is making me think it's better than I initially expected. Awesome.

Alright, dudes. I'm sold. I just gotta make sure I'm not short something stupid like 50 cents or something... but I'd figure that out.

Thanks all.

It sounds like a no-brainer if it's on sale for $10.  One thing to be aware of, if you are using it in Rapture Pro, at least one of the patches may sound a bit off.  I noticed that news_arpeggiator, one of my favorites from the pack, sounded strange in Rapture Pro after hearing it in Rapture.  It turned out that patch uses a blank LFO with the LFO on.  It doesn't have an effect in Rapture since the slot is empty.  However, in Rapture Pro that LFO slot is populated which makes the patch sound strange.  No problem to just disable the LFO, but if I hadn't heard it in Rapture first I would have thought the patch was meant to sound like that.

I of course cannot be certain but that sounds related to the missing LFO issue discussed earlier (but you may already be aware of that). I still need to research that more to see what the deal is but I actually am now a proud owner of the pack (I had JUST enough to make the buy... it was meant to be, lol).

Currently wrangling with some interface driver/firmware spazziness (I figured I'd hunt down any new releases for my 18i6 but am finding some not so nice reports about them so I'm a litttle verklemmt about it all).

Anyhoo... I have them now so expect a PM asking for those LFO's, Craig and I'll try to report back after I get to play around with it all.

Cheeeers!

That is the dreaded Missing LFO phenomenon. Quite a few patches don't sound as they should because of it.

When I get back to my music computer, I'll upload and give a link where you can download the LFOs. It makes quite a difference having the correct LFOs...these are also the same LFOs used in Electronic Guitars so those patches will sound better as well.
