• SONAR
  • VST/app that provides a strumming engine for 3rd party guitar sounds? (p.2)

Thanks. I do have a licence for Real Guitar and Real Strat, but then I started getting into Strum Acoustic and Electric and then GS2, but I find the midi loops totally uninspiring, although some of the Electric guitar sounds are pretty cool.

I actually want to use the strumming engine to drive the guitars in Sampletank 3. They are quite good imo and are similar to the Yamaha Motif series guitars, which imo are the best "bread and butter" ones on any synth!

Ifyou have Kontakt, check out the vids etc for this

$50, really good strum engine. Very nice samples too, even if you're already set for those.

nah, no kontakt...way too exxy for me...and the "player" version always showed up in demo mode for instruments loaded. Which is why I went for sampletank :) much cheaper, sounds (factory) are about the same, and far less hoops to jump through. Albeit there is no where near the amount of 3rd party data though :(

Torch is quite lovely, lingyai... got it years ago... best $50, along with some of Pettinghouse's offerings when they're on sale...

Joden... what "strumming engine" does sampletank have???

All fair points, joden. In which case, try the RealGuitar approach, since you already own it.

vastman, I think he knows ST doesn't have one (afaik), which is why he's looking for something to play ST samples. (Off topic, but Indiginus has come out with some other goodies since Torch  which might be worth checking out. And Orange Tree's new-ish strat is just unreal)

We can give a try for Soundtrek Jammer 6. I have downloaded the trial, will test this weekend.

I cannot live without RealGuitar (acoustic) and its electric companions RealStrat and Real LPC.

Once you know how to use them, the strumming is perfectly realistic.  (Trick: You should turn Pattern Playing Mode to ON for strumming.  That is not clear in the manual.)

If you buy one, I will send you a Sonar starter file that shows how to set things up for strumming.  Why? Because I am awesome.

Seriously, I drive everything with acoustic guitars and rely heavily on RealGuitar, although the strumming techniques work for all three products.
