Thanks XLeviathax

Unfortunately, this just showed the same top row of full block-like characters from bright LCD to no LCD light. Thanks for the suggestion. I really appreciate you pitching in. I'm willing to try anything.

I would like to thank everyone else who pitched in too. You're a great bunch here on Cakewalk.

At least on the upside, I can still use the  for remote DAW usage. The only thing I would have liked would have been to see my levels as I tracked. Looks like I'll just have to have a run through or two and then pop through to my Daw to see my levels on playback and then go from there.

I know how indespensible these units are to everyone. I'm just wondering if another company will ever produce something similar. Cakewalk perhaps?

I also read somewhere that someone had developed an App so that you could use a laptop on a network. Worth looking into I guess.

Thanks Again

More info on that would be nice.

I'm sure I read it on Gearslutz. I've just spent the last 30 mins searching through several of the Tranzport's posts on there and couldn't find it. If I come across it, I'll be sure to post back.

Appreciate the effort.  It would be nice to learn more about this alternative.

It sounds like it's not receiving info back from sonar. Double check that you have both input and output selected in the controller/surfaces dialog.

I've had this happen before and it was because I had inadvertently removed the output in sonar. Sonar  would take input from the tranzport, but it wouldn't show anything on the tranzport screen.

Thanks mrfitz. This would make sense but I'm not sure if that's what's happening. I think I already have this covered. Although I followed the instructions when setting up, there may be something I'm not doing correctly that Sonar/Tranzport user may spot. Therefore, I've taken a snapshot of my settings. Please let me know if there is anything I've done wrong. The Tranzport is set to Native in the system tray. Incidentally, my audio interface is unplugged when I'm not using it so that's why it is unselected as a midi device for now.

With the USB receiver unplugged, you turn on the tranzport, does it says "Tranzport v1.00" in the display?

Did you delete the entry for the transport when you realized you had selected act controller, or did you just change it? You may want to delete and add it right, maybe there is something phlooey about the settings after the change.

Grabbing at straws here, I'd really like to see you get it working, I really like mine.

Thanks mrfitz. I really appreciate the help.

The unit doesn't say anything when it's powered up without the receiver plugged in. It's the same old story with the top row of block-like characters.

I also tried deleting everything which was ever input as a control surface. Still no joy.

Seeing as everyone keeps on raving about the Tranzport and how indespensible it is and of how thin on the ground they are nowadays, I've got another one on the way -  from a different continent this time. I'm hoping that it won't be part of the batch mine come from. My woes appear to be a fairly isolated incident though. Nobody has ever posted anything along the lines of my problem - even on the Frontier forum so fingers crossed.

I think it's become personal now that I get one that works. I dunno, I had a weak moment when I came across it on eBay last night. If I'm unlucky enough to get another dud with the same problem - I'll probably just laugh and move on.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers for all your help folks. You're a swell bunch.

I still think your screen is broken.

Best of luck with this.  The new one will allow you to know for sure.

Yep, I think you're right. It should say "Tranzport v1.00" when it's turned on.
