I have a MOTU Ultralite (original model) firewire-only audio interface and a laptop with no firewire ports and no card slots (no, I didn't buy it ;)!)
 
I've been using a Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6 and it's okay, but I miss the additional inputs on the MOTU. I've done a little Googling, but thought I'd ask here if anyone knows if it's possible to use a USB to Firewire adapter in this scenario.

Nope.  Audio drivers are specific to a firewire or USB function.  The formats are not compatible.  

If you have a PCMCIA opening in the laptop ,you can buy a PCMCIA firewire port for +/- $25.00.

It's a Samsung Series 7 Gamer NP700G7C-S01US 17.3-Inch Laptop that I inherited from my dad and no, it doesn't have any expansion slots.

Hi Susan, the Amazon site has a better description than Samsung's site does (rather scary).
 
You may want to shoot Jim Roseberry a PM to see what options are available. No PCMCIA slots, but I have heard of folks removing the DVD drive to add a second hard drive. I have never torn a laptop apart, so not sure if this is even an option (or if you would even want it).
 
A USB interface that fits the bill for you may be the most painless option.

No, I don't want to mess too much with the laptop. I've been using the NI Komplete Audio 6 (USB) which has been fine, just doesn't have as many ins/outs.
