  • Addictive Drums question / how do you pan/automation/eq/compress the cymbals?

I use Addictive Drums for drum tracks (split into 10+ tracks). My question is, there is no cymbal track (cymbal sounds come from bus, overhead, room tracks), how do you guys mix the cymbals or EQ/Pan the cymbals. In one of my songs, I recorded the WAV file by hitting the cymbal (a feature inside Addictive Drums), then took the file and created a separate cymbal track. Is that how you guys do it?

You can compress, eq, pan etc. in the mixer in AD.

In the Kit view of AD, there is a little vertical slider next to each kit piece. The cymbals have them too. This is a basic volume slider/mixer.  Play a beat on a loop that has some cymbal action, and mix to taste.  Then you can fine tune later with the OH mix bus.

On the EDIT page, you can pan and eq each kit piece also.

Ditto, I do practically everything within AD2 and find that it works plenty well for my purposes.   In fact, although it's certainly not the norm by any stretch, most of my tracks use a SIT - heresy, I know.

I always set "all synth audio outputs to mono" when inserting AD2, and adjust in console view (or track view) pan, volume etc.
All the best.
