  • in staff view how to make track active?

If, for example, I am in staff view and have several tracks selected, by clicking on just one can I make that track active? I used to be able to click on a track and play whatever midi instrument I had assigned to it. Now it seems I can only do that from the console view or the track view. It would be really useful to be able to do this from track view.

I am probably missing something here...on Sonar X1 at the moment

Thanks, this has been bugging me for a very long time!

Anyone got ideas about this?

Selecting a track from the Track Pane on the right hand side of the Staff View changes the selected track in both Track View and Console View

It doesn't seem to change it for me. Must be something glaringly obvious that I've changed without realising, though it has never worked for me in X1

I can mute, solo for example, but it doesn't allow me to play that tracks midi from keyboard like it does in track view. Keep having to go into track view and select the track if I want to be able to do this.

Hope I'm, making sense!l

I just tried it and it works ok here.

Not sure what to suggest apart from call support

Thanks for trying Jonesy. For me, it doesn't even change to the LH track module. Very frustrating.

I'm using all midi stuff....vst software such as Vienna instruments, PLay, Kontact etc. Maybe this feature won't work with these? Always did in my older versions of Sonar though.

Try selecting input echo button 'on'  (right of the record button) in the midi track in the track view.

Better still, go to Preferences > Midi > Playback and Recording and make sure Always Echo Current Midi Track is ticked

Thanks for suggestion: tried it but if echo is permanently on then both tracks sound at once. In track view, whichever track is selected the echo is turned automatically on. This doesn't work in staff view though.
