  • Where is the setting to include Ins/Outs in the track? (p.2)

It is also possible to set the time display to None. Right-click in the area where it should be to see the menu. AFAIK, the drop down will always appear if there is enough room to show it.

Ah... you are correct, as always.

In fact this is relevant to the Track Control Filter remaining visible as well. If the time readout thingie is visible it will force the Track Control Module to disappear sooner as you drag the barrier between the Track Pane and Clips Pane to the left (essentially the time display takes priority over the filter). If you set the time display to None (which makes it disappear) you can make the horizontal size of the Track Pane much smaller without the Track Control Filter menu from disappearing. It will disappear at some point though.

Edit: and since I don't think I have ever used that time display as a reference but conistently need to access the Control Filter AND am constantly making the Track Pane wider than I'd normally prefer to access it this is actually a pretty useful tidbit.

There are also hotkeys, SHIFT+Left/Right Arrow keys step through the track control settings. These two controls, time display and track control, have worked the same since the introduction of Skylight with X1.

Really the only two filters I use are i/o and FX (to set my ins and outs and Insert/remove effects in the Bin) so I never really incorporated that into my workflow/psyche. I do recall reading about that arrow binding but it wasn't useful enough to etch into my memory. I like the menu actually.

The one weird thing is even though I ONLY ever select i/o and FX it always seems whenever I go to do something in this regard and need to change the filter it's set to Custom for no apparent reason. It's actually what it's set to on my screen right now.

Slightly odd but not problematic enough for me to explore the reason (nor am I requesting anyone else does). Just an oddity.

Custom is the default. Change the setting in the project template to change the default. Mine is always set to All.

hmm... so it doesn't save with the project.

It's really not a problem. Just thought it's funny.

And I don't use All just to keep the gack down but I also do all my level futzing in the CV. I know you (and many others) do that in the TV. The fader/strip graphics are just more comforting (and easiler to manipulate) to me even though I know it's the same bloody thing.

Cheers.

The setting is saved in my projects. At least it was when I just tested it. I do not vary from "All" normally.

I set mine to all in my templates as well... And if I change it, then save the project, the next time it opens will be with the last saved choice...

Same as scook is reporting...

That is very odd. I'm probably overlooking something but if not then something is overriding the behavior you are reporting. I do not recall a preferences option regarding this and AFAIK this project (as most of my projects) are just the standard New Project "Blank" Template... (or whatever the included one is that pops open with no tracks but all the Skylight windows showing... Inspector, Browser, TV, Dock, CV, CB).

Really nothing more than an intellectual exercise to dig into because it of course is not a concern for me. I just like to contemplate (and figure out) the hows and whys just for the sake of knowing... as I assume you do as well.

I might poke at it but I'm still trying to sort out a decent plan for that automation problem I was having... and it wasn't an automation problem actually. It's a "this sound on these instruments at this point is annoying the fruxxor out of me and it needs to be fixed" so automation was the most logical path. Since that wasn't working I'm resoting to the more barbaric methods I usually use. lol

I think beep, Scook is saying modify the template that you open for a new blank project. I could be wrong though.
