So I've had my first corrupted project experience with Sonar X1 and from what I've seen on the forums I am not alone.

How many of you have had Sonar corrupt your project?  How can we deal with this?  I would like to continue to use Sonar, but if somewhere down the line its going to corrupt my project, the software is worthless.

Your thoughts?

In the 6 years ive had my share. About 2 or 3, but if you back up your projects like your suppose to, you wont have any problems.
All programs can get corrupt. This is why you back up every session and every project. It shouldn't even be an issue. Just back up your stuff.

If you dont back up, your just asking for trouble, as eventually the hard drive will go or a virus will inhabit your pc or some 1's and 0's will get corrupt.

So far, in one way or another, X1 has corrupted all but 1 of the 6 projects that I started new in it. It seems the longer I work on a project, the greater the probability that something will go wrong.

Example ... I'm working on a project now that I've been working on for about 2 weeks. Everything was fine until this morning. I deleted some unused buses that the SD3 template created and later on I ended up needing another bus so I added one. Boom ... Pro Channel will not work on that bus. It works on all the other tracks and buses, just not this one that I created.

I've had Pro Channel go dead on me before. I get it to work again by enabling Tube Saturation. When I turn it on I hear a loud snap on my speakers, then I turn it back off and the EQ and Comp start working, but not this time. It's completely dead on that one Bus and will not work no matter what I do.

Snap To is still broke, Pro Channel still doesn't work right, trying to edit midi notes in PRV is a crap shoot at best. Can we please get the note length set back to the way it has been for the last 20 years ... please??????

How about letting the Magnetic Strength option in 'Preferences' stick like the other 99 options in Preferences rather than default back to 'Medium' all the time. Do the guys who make this stuff actually use it? Sorry if that seems rude, but one really has to wonder, ya know?

Please help. Anyone? Seth, Brandon, Jebus, Allen, Santa, Chuck Norris, Hulk Hogan, Duke Nukem ... anybody ... Please help.

Yeah. I had PC go dead on me on several occasions yesterday, or simply not respond when I invoked it. I save, exit, and restart and it usually springs to life. I find myself asking the same question. Was this program beta tested? If so, by who?

Having the odd random crash (something I never had in 8) but no corruptions as such. Though you'll hear about it if I do. I'm glad X1 is not a jet airliner!

I have quite a few projects corrupted by X1 - many are from 8.5.3 and earlier, it could be the templates I use, which are the basis of every project I do.  I also have numerous projects created in X1 that are now failing at all stages - opening or closing or just mid-use.  I shouldn't have to keep 10 versions of every project to prevent against the inevitable corruption.

Built into my template are the following:
2 instances of NI Kore 2
2 instances of Pianoteq
One instance of Plugsound
One instance of either Trilogy or Trilian
A couple instances of UAD reverb.

Other common synths I use tend to be Kontakt 4, Omnisphere, Camel Alchemy, Soundtoys Echoboy, UAD's Roland Space Echo.  The longer I work with a project and with each new plugin I launch, the more likely the project is to crash X1 or be corrupted on next open or open and not play or freeze upon load or complain about plugins not being found or who knows what.  I've guess I've been lucky to have had almost no issues like this from Sonar 1 - 8.5 across three or 4 machines, but X1 is becoming like the software from hell for me--I can't open old projects reliably and I'm not crazy about the risk of creating potentially useless ones.

Unless this gets straightened out soon, I'm getting close to scrapping Sonar for good after 16 years of use due to the sheer frustration of 1) having to basically relearn the software and 2) the crashes/hangs (11 in the last 24 hours according to my event viewer).

I have had 2 projects corrupted that were 8.5 projects then ported over to X1.  I save many a new versions so I am usually able to go back and find an earlier version.

My buddy has had several corrupted projects in 8.0.  His projects can be 15+ minutes long with more than 100 tracks and many of those containing dozens of track layers.  They are quite crazy so I am not sure why he runs into the corruption thing often.  I have seen some wacked out issues with his projects that seemingly no one else had run into.  Point being, be really carefull in saving, especially the more intricate your project becomes.
