I wonder am I right to assume what happens with steam gets reflected in CCC accordingly?
Or maybe Cakewalk better off to dump CCC and just use steam...(I just say it, don't imagine it will happen).

i've no idea... i do have z3ta+2 via steam, and that i have to manually move to my VST folder after any steam updates, i think this update/blog is about managing that sort of thing better, as well as making it easier to buy content for the synths... but still, nice to see stuff being announced in advance :)
