I'm a little late in finding these.  But has anyone used DSK plugins (http://www.dskmusic.com/) before and are they any good?  How do you install them in Sonar?   I'm on X3E - 32 bit I think (pretty sure that's how I installed it last), but on Windows 7 64 bit.

I am using these plugins on Sonar Platinum (fully patched) on Windows 7 64bit (fully patched) with 16gig ram.  You install them by placing the contents of the zip folder for a given synth into your VST folder, perform a scan and away you go.  I have a DSK folder under the VST folder for file management purposes.

There have been a couple that have crashed Sonar (can't remember which ones).  However, by and large they work well with Sonar. 

As to "are they any good?", well it depends on whether you personally would find them useful.  I reckon I could use most of the presets.  Best is to try them out and give them a whirl.

I tried that I think.  I copied them to my Program Files(x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins and did the rescan.   It seems to find the DSK ones ok, but it also threw an error like it couldn't find some kind of .scm or .sem file or something like that....

Be warned, a couple of them are WAY out of tune

Do you know which specific DSK plugin throws that error?

My "DSK Instruments" folder (which is, itself, under the vstplugin folder) contains the DLL files themselves.  Under the "DSK Instruments" folder there is a folder for each of the individual DSK instruments.  These folders are where the sem files are required to be. On my system, the folder containing the SEM files has the same name as the dll file.  When ever I extract the files for any VST plugin, where it has to be done manually, I always keep the same folder structure as it appears in the zip file.

For example for the plugin "DSK Darkness Theory 3", the DSK Darkness Theory 3.dll is in My "DSK Instruments" folder.  Under My "DSK Instruments" folder there is another folder called "DSK Darkness Theory 3". In this folder, there are individual files with the SEM extensions.

I use 'em. Darkness Theory in particular. You should like said above just be able to dump 'em into your VST folder and scan them. They're pretty good for that weird pad sound you need sometimes.

DSK-Brass.zip only contains the DLL and the README text file.  However, DSK_Saxophones.zip contains a sub folder that contains the MSE files.  Note: I am refering the the 64bit version of DSK_Saxophones.zip
