  • Restoring SONAR preferences/setup from retired system drive?

I've just rebuilt my workstation computer using brand-new SSD disks. I have my old system disk available to pull files from. Does anyone know if it is possible to retrieve my old SONAR preferences from the older disk and deploy them into my new SONAR environment?

The only way I can think is to put your old drive back in, start up Sonar and export your prefs to a place that will be accessible when the drive comes back out.

SSD back in, fire up Sonar and import the exported prefs.

Not an option for me, but it also begs the question: How does one "export the preferences" in such a way that this would be possible?

The majority can be migrated by simply copying INI files located at
C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum.

Keyboard shortcuts, the most cumbersome to reproduce, require export/import.  These are kbn files.  If you haven't changed any of the shortcuts, copying the INI files should do the trick.

Thanks Bob, that's awesome.
