Hi , Maybe just something I've forgotten how to do?
A long time ago I assigned icons to my template that I use routinely. I can still see them in the console view , but thought I used to be able to see them in the track view  ?
I have just added another monitor so maybe I'm looking for problems .

Do you have no icons in the Track View or have the ones you selected reverted to the defaults?
 
If you see no icons at all I think there is a setting that hides icons in the TV (not sure though).
 
If you see the default icons yet the ones you chose still remain in the Console I have no idea what could be going on. Maybe something project specific (corruption) so in that case... does this issue persist in all projects or just one (or a few).
 
You did say template though so I'm guessing maybe this occurs upon opening the template fresh.

I noticed I could add icons in the bus pane , once one was added , I could then add all the others to the track pane, so seems to be ok now , not sure why !
