  • Is there a real advantage to Win10?

I upgraded to Win10 x64 from Win7 x64 without too much hassle.  The GUI nuances are subtle and liked.  However, my UAD PCi plugins IkMultimedia ARC1 are not compatible with Win10 and they are no longer supported, i.e., a Win10 compatible driver will NOT be released.  There fore I either pay for expensive upgrades (especially UAD), abandon those plugins (ARC.prp64 DLL crashes SPLAT), or stay with Win7.  Has anyone seen any performance advantage or any other advantage to using Win10 over Win7?

Hi. Try to reinstall UAD and ARC. I had to do that with UAD.
Ps. I am running UAD version 7.8 on Win 10 without any issues.

The main advantage is it will be supported long after win 7/8 support runs out. Sonar will support Win10 longer than Win7/8 as well.

I have the UAD 1 card. Will the 7.8 update work with the first generation card?

Sounds like you would be better off staying with Win 7 until your next computer upgrade.
Then it might be time for the next gen UAD and whatever version ARC is at then.
I'm waiting for the dust to settle on Win 10, then it'll be time for a new Kitty!
Mine's approaching 5 years old, purrs like a lion, but nothing lasts forever!
