It would be awesome if we were able to change the color of the cells in the pop-up color palette for track and bus colorization.
I personally find that the default colors are not to my taste; so I am always making the extra clicks to go to the standard windows color picker dialog. Every time.
Perhaps a right-click -> customize option on each swatch?

I agree!

While waiting for the a mod from Cakewalk, try creating a project template with custom colors. The custom color settings in the color picker are saved in project templates. It would still require opening the color picker but at least the custom colors are already created for the project.

If you agree vote for it :). There is a star rating system next to the OP. Cheers

OK Alex, I need to "read the signs."

Scook, thanks for the remediation.  I knew this, but got really excited by the OP and was not thinking straight.

I like it.  Although better when using a template as scook outlined, it seems like a good idea to me and fairly standard Windows/Office behavior.

Disclaimer: This is not a commitment or anything from Cakewalk to do such a thing. This is just one SONAR user sharing his idea.

I do think color customization is neat but it sure does take a long time. There is this nifty design tool I sometimes play with here: http://paletton.com/#uid=1000u0kllllaFw0g0qFqFg0w0aF

It would be cool if you could pick a base color, choose monochromatic, adjacent, triad or tetrad and then that palette was applied across the tracks.

Looked at that tool Willy. Are you suggesting that we have something like that in Sonar? If so, I am all for it.

I could use blue for guitars and the different shades for trks of different parts.

I could use red for drums and the different shades for different parts/pieces.

And so on.

Yeah I think something similar to that would be cool. I don't have time to pick out specific colors on an orchestration project with 80+ tracks. That sounds more like a chore.

Now you got me thinking - what if you could apply a selected palette to a track folder and all tracks within that folder would follow that palette.

Yes!! Great idea! And have the bus follow the trks. I would think that would be the way to go. Instead of the trks following bus. Maybe have this option selectable. Trk follow bus/bus follow folder.
