  • possible to expose both 32bit and 64bit versions of same plugin?

Hopefully the title says it all, but I'm hoping someone here might be able to help here.

I've got a situation where for various reasons I would like to be able to use both the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version of a plugin (NI KORE2 - yes, I know it's discontinued and all that but I still use it sometimes). I have the 32 bit version installed in a folder that is in the VST scan list and I can see it being scanned if I move it out and back in again, so Sonar knows about it and recognizes it, but it doesn't show up in the plugin list, as Sonar seems to hide any 32 bit plugins that are present in 64 bit version. I understand why that is for most purposes desired behaviour, but I'm wondering if it can be overridden. I've been hunting through settings dialogs and documentation but haven't turned anything up yet.

Is this a bitbridge thing? Maybe jbridge would allow this? I've never used it as bitbridge has always met my needs and I rarely use anything 32 bit anymore. I'd prefer to stick with bitbridge but if jbridge would make this possible I'd consider it...

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance...

Of course you generally dump the 32 bit version in this scenario. What are the reasons?

Thanks.

Make sure it's not in the excluded plugins list in Plugin manager

Hmm. That's tantalizing scook, but it would be great to know how... as I say I've been looking for the setting that might make it happen but to no avail.

@Doktor A the reasons are kind of specific to Kore and its development and general sorry state of unsupportedness. The plugin can either use its internal versions of the various NI synths/effects, or host newer VST versions. The internal versions are outdated but necessary to play some old soundpacks which I still use, which the newer versions won't load, and the newer VSTs are necessary to use more recent sounds that can't be played by the old versions because they changed sound format when they dumped the platform. I'd ideally like to have one version (likely the 32 bit version) using the old internal engines and the other to use newer sounds and Reaktor ensembles and such. I don't know if this is possible, possibly the toggle is global, but I figure it's worth a try...

I thought of that, but there doesn't seem to be anything in my excluded list for VST or VSTi.

Not sure what scook had in mind, but I think you need to look at Preferences > File > VST settings. Uncheck "Hide Related VST2 Plug-ins" and also uncheck "Replace VST2 Plug-ins When Opening Projects."

Hmm. I had played with those settings a bit already as well, but I turned them both off and restarted and did a full rescan and it's still the same - nothing showing...

I am going to have to walk my statement back. The last time I looked at this this was some time ago. Apparently, since X3, SONAR automatically replaces 32bit plug-ins if there is a 64bit version available. Something X2 does not do. I have not tested with jBridge, it may do what you want.

Did you do a plug-in reset - not just a restart of the program - before doing the re-scan? That's also under Preferences > File > VST settings.
