Hi everyone,
I have been trying to help a friend with an issue he is having installing Dimension pro from the command center. His spec's are Platinum 64bit with Hopkinton update. PC specs are the same as mine. He uses a Saffire Pro 40 interface.
Dpro went through the install process from the command Center but did not install the program. No registry entries were added, no data or program files were installed on the PC and Dpro is not in the VSTi list in Sonar. really strange. He tried installing it a few times with the same result. There is no stand alone installed either. I'm at a loss.
To add to that he has X3 32bit installed also. Since he installed sPlat 64bit he decided to uninstalled X3 32bit and install X3 64bit to go all 64bit. Of course X3 is installed using it's install files and not CCC. When installing Dpro 1.5 for X3 he gets a message that a version of Dpro is installed and needs to run the 1.5 patch and is taken to Cake site to get the patch. The patch in turn reports a message saying you need to install Dpro version 1.2 or higher.
It seems something strange is going on with Dpro for both Platinum and X3.
All help is appreciated.
Please let me know what other info will help resolve both these issues.

Thanks

Hi. Have you tried to delete the Dim Pro files form CCC download folder, before downloading and installing (through CCC)?
Have you tried to download directly from the Cakewalk account (perhaps download to desktop, to make sure no duplicate), and try to run as admin, if not done already?
Sorry if this is obvious.
Best of luck.

That download is massive with few changes in several years. Did you right click and run as administrator?

I forget if there is an MD5 hash for the download file, but believe there is. That is best way to verify file integrity.

Another method to check file integrity (and skip the first unpack during install) is to try uncompressing the installation file with 7zip or similar. As long as all of the files are in the same directory, you can similarly right click the exe and install to skip the unpacking step.

It sounds to me there is a very old version of DPro lurking on the PC or possibly just the registry. Here are old instructions on how to perform a clean install of DPro https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013238/Clean-Install-Dimension-Pro-for-Dimension-Pro-1-5-full-installer The registry info is still correct and could be used prior to using the current installer.

Whether this is something the user really wants to do or not depends on if old projects running the DirectX version of DPro will need to be opened. If not, a clean install with the new versions should be OK. If on the other hand, access to old projects with DirectX DPro is necessary, it might be better to perform a clean install the old version of DPro and update using the patches on the DPro support page.

Do I remember an issue requiring doing the install as administrator?

Scook I did the clean uninstall and reinstalled from CCC and all is working. Even X3. Since X3 and SPLAT shares the same vst folder X3 see's DP fine. Didn't have to install it for X3.

Thanks everyone for your help

The DPro bundled with SONAR has been the same for years. Once DPro v1.5 is installed correctly, it is available to all VST hosts.
