  • applying volume automation directly on track?

Hi guys
I am wondering if it is possible to apply the volume automation directly right to the track without bouncing it to new track? I mean after volume automation I want to apply the automation on track and get ride of the automation envelope without bouncing to track . like when we want to apply an effect directly to a track and delete the effect from the effect bin with using the apply effect command under process.
Thanks

I THINK you can do this with Clip Automation (which would now be done in the specific clip's automation lane) then using bounce to clips. Or you could add some effect to the Clip FX bin that is totally benign (as in can be set so there is no actual effect but you can still control output volume) and adjust the volume and then bounce the effects to the clip.

It's the whole "Bounce to Clip" thing I am unsure about. I don't know if effects applied in specific lanes or from the FX Bin will actually print to the clip. I think they will. It's just track effects that might need a bounce to track.

The smarter dudes can help more but maybe that will point you to the correct manual entries.

Cheers.

I'm not sure this is possible at all.

The question would be - why do you want to get rid of the envelope? If at a later date you want to change it, you can't.

The only times I have ever done that was to bake audio that got used in another project, and was via a track bounce. I do not know of another method but also agree with Jonesey that it is unnecessary in most cases (it does not add undue overhead and visually the ghosted envelope can be hidden if desired).

I guess if I wanted to save the mix in separate track files so it could be rebuilt elsewhere?

I'm guessing they want to free up the paramater control (which would otherwise be overtaken by the envelope).

That's partially why I mentioned finding a plugin of some some that could control volume without using the fader volume for the envelope.

I should have done a test using the clip automation before closing Sonar for the night.

However... if this isn't possible one thing I've used in the past for a similar scenario is just using Bounce to Track into a new track and dragging the resulting clip into a new take lane in the original track (and of course deleting the newly created track and removing the effect/envelope that I'd just printed... and muting the original take so I could revert back easily if need be).

For those parts that I am 100 percent sure that i won't touch them later, I wanna apply it. So It would be easier for future if i want to increase or decrease the whole track.Otherwise i have to select the whole track to change the volume.

That would work Beep but he specifically stated he did not want to bounce to track - and we don't know why.

So It would be easier for future if i want to increase or decrease the whole track.

That is the purpose of offset mode.
