I'm guessing they want to free up the paramater control (which would otherwise be overtaken by the envelope).

That's partially why I mentioned finding a plugin of some some that could control volume without using the fader volume for the envelope.

I should have done a test using the clip automation before closing Sonar for the night.

However... if this isn't possible one thing I've used in the past for a similar scenario is just using Bounce to Track into a new track and dragging the resulting clip into a new take lane in the original track (and of course deleting the newly created track and removing the effect/envelope that I'd just printed... and muting the original take so I could revert back easily if need be).

Yes this is what I don't want always for some tracks that i am sure i wont make any change on them. Otherwise as you said i have to bounce them to track and move all the effects or copy them from old track to the new one and delete the old track.
I just wanted to check if there is an option that i might don't know it in the sonar platinum.

Empty FX Chain

Ah... yeah. That's the way to go. The vid I learned that trick from preceded the FX Chain Modules with the independent input/output controls.

REZA... do as scook (and I said) and insert an empty FX Chain module into the Prochannel (wherever it is most advantageous in the signal chain for the volume changes to occur... like at the very end of the PC chain) and automate the output control on the module instead of your volume fader.

No need to bounce or do anything at that point.

Cheers.

PS: Based on my (admittedly limited) experience with Offset Mode it seems to be more confusing/hassle than it's worth but yes, that is of course an option.

FX chains can go in the FX bin too. Then reassign the volume automation to the FX chain volume.

I was unsure if the actual module was available from the FX Bin (which is the only way I know of accessing those in/out controls... but I guess they'd show up in the available envelopes filter menu thingie without opening it).

I was PRETTY sure there was a module option for Bin/Rack chains but didn't want to say for sure.

I do personal prefer that stuff in the PC though because then I can leave the bin Pre/Post status and contents free for other stuff. Then again the Pre/Post status of the PC comes into play to but I think last in the PC set to default means the FX Chain comes immediately before the fader.

Meh... I'll shuddup now.

I assign my volume envelopes to the free fader plug "GFader." http://www.gvst.co.uk/gfader.htm
That way I can adjust the overall volume of the track with the normal track fader.

Interesting...

Did you know that you can do that using offset mode (letter O key) where you can set master levels of all controls even when automation exists...

I did not know that. I saw it was mentioned earlier in this thread and I will be investigating that later tonight. I may switch to that technique. Thanks for mentioning it.

 offset mode (letter O key)

The keyboard shortcut for Offset mode was dropped in the new SONAR. Toggle Offset mode using the Mix module or add a custom keyboard shortcut.
