That's a heck of a deal I say. I just paid about that for a lot less...

Q: I've built a few machines but my research has been nil for a while.  I use and love me Lynx L22 PCI card (s/ADAT daughter card).  Having read that not all new boards have genuine/stand-alone PCI slots, can anyone confirm for me that the ones on this board will work properly and be adequate for the Lynx card?  I've used my Intel DP35DP board for several years now and have been thinking of taking the next step.

Thanks!

BTW, the reviews for the board are a bit concerning.

Another BTW, reading the sub-sub-forum descriptions shouldn't this thread be in Deals or at least Computers?

Deals: “Found a good deal on some music software, hardware or a computer? Let your friends know!”
Computers: “Discussion focused on computer hardware systems, components and DAW building”

....just sayin'

Probably should be in "Deals"...I agree...my bad...but we usually just post Software Deals there...
That's one of the things that kind of got "lost in translation"...is that "hardware deals" can NOW also
reside in the Deals section...

It would have been best in computers, I thought deals is for businesses to post in.

Wren I think a PCI bus is still a PCI buss. My new Mobo has 2 PCI slots and then a bunch of PCI express slots and  below is what the specs say.

The PCIEX16, PCIEX8 and PCIEX4_1 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
- 1 x PCI Express x1 slot
(The PCIEX4_2 and PCIEX1 slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
- 2 x PCI slots      ( it doesn't say anything here so this tells me all is good still)

It is a Gigabyte GIGA-Z97X-SOC Force which is similar to the one above.

I believe the issue with PCI these days is shared interrupts.  I have 6 x 3.0 pci slots but they share the same interrupts (maybe only some, can't remember).  I don't know if this is a problem or not, but Sir Les had all sorts of problems that he attributed to interrupt sharing.

In my case I don't use any of these slots on my DAW. So if I did buy a PCI audio card would this be an issue??
I can't think of much that we use PCI cards for these days,, An extra USB card?
The one in my office computer which a fancy Video card and then my Audio Deluxe PCI card. It's rock solid. We watch movies play music for hours on end and I fire up X3 and mess around sometimes.

Yeah, what Paul describes sounds familiar (I'll do some more searching). I'll take a look at your model as well Johnny!

@cclarry, (agree on the forum change) just thought it might get more mileage in the other forums but do appreciate the heads-up.

Thanks for comments!

Newegg :   "Sorry, the combo deal is no longer available."

That said, this current thread in the Sonar forum may be of related interest :

FYI- This is for anyone having audio dropouts "All of A Sudden"
