Hi there
Jim, I am not directly in the market for a sound module right now. I am running a Korg M1, the JD800, 2 Kurzweil rack samplers, two EMU samplers and a Yamaha A4000 as my hardware set-up so I pretty well set-up for the moment.
In a way the samplers are very similar to sample based synth modules anyway. They all have extensive libraries and great effects processors. But if I was looking into just one two space rack mount that packed a huge amount of power I think the Integra 7 would be it for sure. I like the concept of so much power being inside one smallish unit.
As far as working with a DAW I am sure it will be fine. I generally don't get these things to do more than one midi channel at once. I prefer to print parts to audio as they happen and work with the audio tracks later in mixing, although I am sure it has powerful multi timbral features as well.
I only mentioned the JD800 for our interest more rather than what the OP was talking about. I know the JD990 is more complex in its own way but the sound quality that comes out of the JD800 is quite unique. I love it!
