I am after a relatively cheap big band type brass vsti. I can't find any reviews about the vsti noted above and don't even know if it would be suitable for big band brass. Anyone have any suggestions?

Since you did not state what your budget is it is hard to advise however Garritan's Jazz & Big Band:

is pretty good for $149 USD.
