I was having this issue last time I used the Aria player. Where do I find the  "zero controllers when play stops" setting? I'm not finding it in Sonar Preferences.

You're not looking hard enough, cause that's exactly the right place. Make sure you select the Midi section.
 
I still say turning that off is a mistake, but you'll find that out later on.

It is in the PROJECT - MIDI preferences, so it only shows up when you have a project open.   And this means you have to set it again for every project.  I am not aware of a way to make it so that all projects default to settings of your choice.

In order to make per-project settings persistent, change the project template(s). All subsequent projects using the altered template(s) will have the new default settings.
