I still trying to wrap my head around a town being named "Hopkinton."
Umm, I live in Hopkinton. It's mostly known as being the starting point for the Boston Marathon.
Great town.
I'm sure, but try to find the derivation of that word. Something like "New South Wales" is pretty easy to parse

A lot of towns have names based on Native American languages and have particular meanings, like Ho-Ho-Kus - which maybe sounds like the name of a comedy club, but is a contraction of two Lenni Lenape words and means "The Red Cedar."
But I can't find
anything on Hopkinton - no "King Hopkinton the Third," no corruption of a saying. The closest I've been able to find is that in Sanskrit, Kinton means "crowned." And "hops" relate to beer...hmmm, maybe the name means "Beer King."
Since you live there...can you shed any light on a subject which probably no one cares about except me? If not, then spread a rumor around town that the derivation of "Hopkinton" is "Beer King," and we'll see if it gets any traction
