Hello All,

I'm recording rehearsal tracks for a choir I sing with.  I always start by using a midi file of the arrangement complete with piano.

When I inputted the midi data in Sibeilus, I missed a fermata and tempo change.  I went back to the midi, corrected it and imported it back into Sonar Platinum.  The tempo changes are not there.  I find this often happens.  If I right click the midi file and choose "open with" it imports fine.  If I import it into an existing file the tempo changes disappear.  Is there some setting I'm missing that I can tell sonar to read the tempo changes? It seems like the original tempos of the original midi track are ingrained in the Sonar file.  This used to happen in Sonar X1 studio as well.  Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
Michael Bennett

That is how SONAR works. Import strips tempo information. Opening a MIDI file does not strip tempo.

So the only way to fix it is to put the changes in manually?   This will be tricky as the fermata and gap after it are interpreted as extra rests.
