I have this happen periodically...to often...maybe once every 4 to 8 hours... Fortunately don't have clients... Task manager does not release Plt...I routinely re-boot. I've just gotten use to accepting this as part of the world of "amazing daw"land...
Personally I don't have the brains to sort this out. It IS frustrating, but balanced by the awesomeness of Platinum over older Sonar's... If I had clients, it WOULD be embarrassing. As it is, I just live with it...
As I'm getting ready to try Win10 and will be updating graphic drivers and Forte drivers, I hope this helps... No 32bit anything that I am aware of.

I would recommend a clean install of win 10 perhaps. That is, backup with something like acronis and an external hard drive, run the win10 media disk from within windows 7/8 (do not boot on it!)... Update. Get your product key (in cloud) after windows 10 install. Then check to see if your devices work. If it's yes, boot of the win 10 media disk, and install Win10 again making sure you reformat your OS partition. And build everything from the beginning/restore your data (hopefully your data is separated onto another partition anyway). Nice and clean that way. Make sure you always install the latest device drivers/firmware from the internet.
Personally I would recommend the upgrade procedure for anybody installing Win10. You need a spring clean every now and then.
