Are you running the ASIO driver, I am aware that with my OLD 26 i/o only the ASIO drivers gave access to all the I/O unless you hacked the registry to activate them.

You don't say whether this is something that's just started happening or if it's never worked properly or what the case is.

That info will make a lot of difference on how we might approach giving you suggestions. Welcome to the forum

That's true
It has worked in the past. I moved and when I rehooked it up it apparently didn't remember the old drivers.

Maybe it is the setup or the Safire control configuration I am using. Perhaps.....
11 and 12 are spdif?

I get the analog inputs 1,3,5,7 inputs (selectable)
The rest appear there but are not selectable.(in sonar x1 audio drivers)

Which version of Mix control are you using?

Question(s):

Are we talking about "selectable" in the track inputs or in the Edit > Preferences > Audio - Devices section.

If you are merely talking about the available TRACK inputs go to your Sonar Audio Devices Preferences and make sure all those channels are selected. If they are grayed out then yes... something else is going on in which case....

What Samplerate are you set to?

I know that the ADAT/Optical connector (and such connectors in general) only allow 4 channels at 96khz samplerate and the full 8 at 48khz samplerate. So even though you said SPDIF is what is borking out maybe you meant the ADAT connection.

Just a couple longshot guesses/suggestions. Check that stuff out and return with your answers. If you solve the issue also return and post the solution for other users.

Cheers!

Edit: And please check out Wookie's question. I will follow that up with "Did you install the drivers from the disc that came with the hardware or did you download the most updated driver version for Vista?"

The reason this is important is because you generally do NOT want to install drivers from included discs because they are almost ALWAYS outdated and Focusrite did indeed have some problems with their drivers quite a few years back (so Vista may have been affected). Check for the LATEST Vista drivers on the Focusrite website and make sure you actually have them installed (check the point/version number... if they match you are good... if not dowanload and install the most recent Vista drivers).

Try 3.6.. At your own risk as it says nothing about Vista. You could ask Focusrite if it might work (they won't support it however).

Note this will also update your firmware.
3.6 is definitely the saffires best ever drivers by a mile at least on win 8.1.

If you install I strongly recommend you unibstall the previous drivers l, reboot, install latest, reboot, reset everything in mix control, save to hardware and back up your settings.

If 3.6 works make sure you remove the lagacy FireWire driver if you have that installed afterwards.

Always backup.

I would like to point out VERY emphatically the "AT YOUR OWN RISK" part of Dok's post.

You should not install drivers for an OS other than the one you are using.

Sorry, Alex but that is jumping the gun by a mile. There are still some questions that need to be answered before trying out mismathced drivers.

Yanno  I lurvs ya but there are other easier and more logical solutions to try first. The Vista drivers should be okay. If they aren't posted on their site a quick email to Focusrite support should get OP a download.

Cheers.
