Just about to try Windows 10 on one of my PC's. Those of you that have installed it already and are running Sonar, did you choose the Home or Pro editions?

Thanks:)

IF you already have home you need to download home. If you have professional or Ultimate you will download pro.

When you use the free upgrade (from Win 7 or Win 8.1 only), the upgrade will be the same version as you currently have.  You don't get to choose which version.

Also, you can't do a clean install of Win 10, initially.  You have to upgrade.  You can do a clean install after the upgrade, using the product code of the version that was upgraded.

The ten forums have lots of info on Win 10

Thanks for the responses. I did get to choose as I am downloading the image file from Microsoft. I shall download pro.

Yes, you can choose which you download, but if you currently own Win7 Home or Win8 Home, I'd be very curious to know if you get to choose which you get to install. Scuttlebutt says, under those circumstances, you won't be able to install Win10 Pro without paying for an upgrade (if you can at all). Please let us know how it works out.

Thanks Ron - Win 7 Pro is the version that I have and I am downloading Win 10 pro so I won't be of much use to your test:)

If it's the wrong version you get asked for your serial number to confirm you're upgrading at the correct level.

Not really a test. I would just have been very surprised if you had Home and could choose to upgrade at download time without paying an upgrade fee. :)

I certainy could have chosen either version at download Ron. I was using using a MS link that allows you to download an iso to upgrade another computer. The problem would not have become apparant until installation.

My installer was the same for home and pro. When I typed in the Pro Key, it became Pro.

Mine was a clean install, not an upgrade.
