Thanks man!! Same thing happened here!! Any ideas as to why this isn't coming up in some installations? Complete wipe of machine and reinstall still didn't fix it!! Grr

I have no idea why or how this happened. Something went awry during installation, but we have no way of knowing what. CW probably has a clue, though.

I know that the SONAR installer must generate a log during installation, which is how installation problems are identified, but I've never been able to find said log file. Since you've recently reinstalled SONAR, you might poke around the \program files\Cakewalk and \documents and settings trees and look for files named "install.log", or something like that.

Hi Bitflipper,

I had a similar problem and did the registry edit myself with two programs that weren't showing up on the VST plugins list:

Beatscape and z3ta+

and Dimension Pro was reporting back to me that it wasn't properly installed. I found that despite the fact that I have adminstrative rights on my Windows XP computer, I had to log in as "Administrator" in order for these programs to install and work correctly (even with the registry hack for the z3ta+, I still had to run Sonar as an Administrator for the synth to play from the rack once it appeared!).

I have now set up an administrator account and run all my Sonar related software there instead (even my project 5 installation was asking me to reinstall from the original CD!!)

I don't know when my security permissions changed on my system (I'm the only one who uses it, so suspect some foul play from the internet!) but it caused the same symptoms as the ones you described for z3ta+.

Hope this is of some help
Uche :)

Hi all,

I had a similar issue after upgrading to Windows 7 and Sonar 8.5. z3ta only appeared in the 64-bit version of Sonar. The registry entries for the 32-bit version had just two entries as show above by BitFlipper.

I tried all of the solutions given above, but in the end re-installing just z3ta from the 8.0 DVD done the trick. The DLLs looked the same although they got installed to a different location.

Cheers, John

I've done the same using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit, run all my apps from the Administrator account.
Seems to have solved the "Permissions Issues" I was experiencing.

I know this in an old thread but I upgraded to the latest version of Platinum and all of my third party instruments are missing.  Kontakt5, UVIWorkstationVST any ideas

BMOG, have you checked your VST directory locations under Edit->Preferences, and performed a complete re-scan?

Well I feel silly I was launching X3 and not Platinum, there were all there in Platinum.  That is rust from not working in a while
