  • Sonar Crashes When Deleting 2 UAD Plugs From Same FX Bin (p.2)

Yes, I as well have noticed an inexplicable Foxboro SONARPLT.exe crash to desktop (with no crash report it seems) when deleting multiple UAD plug-ins from the FX bin. I have not noticed any rhyme or reason to it as it happens infrequently. As I don't typically need to delete multiple UAD plug-ins at a time (one after the other) from the same FX bin very often, I don't really know how long this has been an issue. But after I read the OP's post, I tried t replicate it myself and after a few tries the SONARPLT.exe did indeed crash to desktop and I was able (after several numerous tries) to do it on multiple occasions.

I think Cakewalk would be able to replicate this quite easily and hopefullly post a fix in an upcoming update.

Cheers,

Billy Buck

I wouldn't be so sure it's a Sonar bug just yet, it could be latest UAC code can't handle latest C++ libraries and needs to be updated..

I still strongly recommend you try and rule this out before you contact any support, you can then tell them you tried all this before they suggest it...

* Turn off antivirus temporarily.
* Try running Sonar as administrator (fixed similar errors before).
* Update your audio interface device drivers and firmware (just in case).
* Get windows update fully up to date (you appear to have a C++ error here with MSVCR120.dll so well worth trying).

Thanks...

Just to add to this, I just replicated this with AV off, running as Administrator, with latest driver version (I already was) and with fully updated version of Windows (again, already was).

D.A., if I might ask, what makes you think that MSVCR120.DLL errors are indicative of Windows not being fully updated?

I, too, have tried all these things and the issue persists. Additionally, I should note that I just retested Everett and this time it crashed too.

Just a wild idea based on another FX bin problem. What happens if you disable all FX bins (FX button in the Tools Module of the Control Bar) and then delete the plugins?

Cheers, Peter.

I too can confirm this and put a post up awhile but not just with FOXBORO... it started after platinum was released and yes... it happens when I delete UAD plugs from my MASTER BUS more often than I like.  Once in awhile wouldn't be bad but it happens way too much.  A real buzz kill because I am usually in the "MIX" portion of my projects when this happens and I have to restart SONAR and RELOAD the project and start almost all over (at least get my head back on where I was in the mix).

I hope somebody figures this out sooner than later.

Either UAD or Cakewalk issue then, difficult to tell, I'd contact support for both and point them to this thread (before anybody brings it up I do understand it might work in previous Sonar versions).... Until the issue is fully identified it's not a problem report. Ta

Any more news on this one? Dont want to upgrade unless UAD is rock solid with Splat.

I missed this. Yes Windows update could resolve this, or reinstallation of the C++ libraries.

So DA this is an install issue and not an actaul bug? Or unknown at this point?
