My Projects are chrashing since the Foxboro Update. It seems that there is a Major Problem with VST´s from other companies like Native Instruments or my all time favorite EQ from Fabfilter.

Last but not least cakewalk comand center forces me to activate my Sonar (Member since 4 Months) otherwise it takes me back to demo mode in 9 days ??????? that´s hillarious.....
Same after the Update of DIM Pro.... Took me hours to bring it back to life

I never had such big problems and bad experiences with a DAW. Never wasted so much time in installing / re installing tweaking to run something for 50 Bugs a Month properly.

switching to Studio One3... installed......all is running fine and perfect... no crackles, no issues, no chrashes...

bye bye cakewalk.

If you don't state what version of Sonar you're using, what audio card and driver and other pertinent information, it's going to be difficult to get help.

I'm running Sonar Platinum and have 3 synths from NI running as VSTs:  Massive, FM8 and Kontakt.  They're all running flawlessly.  I'd suspect your setup, not Sonar.

Well since the OP probably won't come back, I don't feel bad hijacking the thread and saying you have good taste in synths. Those are my three fave NI synths as well. I love that FM8 can load the presets I slaved over creating for my TX802.

Hey Craig,
You mention you use Studio One for album assembly.
This sounds interesting.
I, and a lot of us here us CD Architect.
There must be some advantage or maybe you just like the gui workflow?
So why do you like it for album assembly? what can you do in Studio One that you can't in CD Arch?
Thanks.

I haven't had any problems with NI or FabFilter ProQ-2, perhaps your problem lies elsewhere.

I like the analytics (metering etc., particularly the Dynamic Range metering) better, as well as being able to export in DDP and multiple other formats. CD Achitect is what I used before I switched. As you've probably figured out given my presence here, I don't use SOP's multitrack Song page (although if SONAR didn't exist, that's probably what I would use). However I don't really consider SOP a mastering program for heavy-duty mastering and restoring; Wavelab or Sound Forge, with a hefty dose of iZotope software, get the nod for that.

Z3TA and Massive have been my favorites for quite a while.   When I was scoring the Gumby TV series in the late 1980s I had 8 DX-7s in a rack (TX-816).  But the FM8 is more powerful, the original DX7s only had sine waves for waveforms, FM8 has many more, plus effects, arpeggiation, etc.  My, haven't we been lucky to have been born at the time we were so as to enjoy the amazing evolution of digital instruments!

Jerry, you might get a kick out of this article by Chris Loeffler about that very topic.
