I am trying to install some Waves effects that I downloaded demos for.  I have Sonar Producer X3e, 64 bit.

Waves didn't seem to provide any installation instructions, and searching here and on the web got me nothing.

I am guessing this is pretty simple, but you never know.

I ended up copying the Waves folder that was created when I downloaded the plug ins and pasting it under the "Vstplugins" folder under "Cakewalk." I have access to a few things, but I get the feeling I am missing stuff, like the parameters/values/models for the Ir1 reverb. Not sure if I am saying that right.

Been a long time since I have been here. Seems like a lot of threads are missing compared to 8 years ago.

Thanks.

Waves creates a Waveshell. You can't just drag stuff into the VST plug-is folder. I assume you have a Waves account; there's info regarding installation on their web site you can access through your account.

Thanks for the reply, but I still can't find any information on how to actually install this stuff so I can use it in Sonar.

Seems strange that they wouldn't have any clear cut directions. They seem to spend all their time on explaining licensing. If I missed something during the original install, seems strange that there is no way to go back and re-do it.

Hi,
you have to download and install your plugs via the Waves Woli,I recommend the besrion 9

During the installation process you have to choose the
Bit depht (32 or 64 bit)- vst 2 or/and  3 and
the bundle or/and single plugs and - important- the waves license center.
assumed that you are already  registered  .

Did you sign into your Waves account?

Thanks for all the replies. I signed in and did the install several hours ago, so I am hazy on the details. (Plus I am not a power user and have only started back in with Sonar recently.) As part of the install I did activate the licenses. I am not sure about the Woli, but I think that it was part of what I accessed.

I thought I followed their instructions, using their install-shield routine of some sort. I just used all their defaults for locations for the folders. That might have been a mistake.

I am using the IR1 right now, but can't access any presets. That may be because this is the demo.

I finally found a discussion on this from last year. I tried the instructions there, . Here is one of the posts along with a link to it:

"OK, I think I have sussed it so I have marked this thread solved

I will post where I have everything as the WAVES installer seems to put everything in the wrong place and with the recent offer I am sure others will come unstuck

To get the VST3 versions working this is where you need to put everything:

Find where the WAVES installer has put the plugins - in my case i was: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves"

In this folder is a folder called: "Plug-Ins V9"

You need to put a copy of this whole folder here: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3"

In this folder you need to have the file: "WaveShell-VST3 9.3_x64.vst3"

If you don't have this file in your VST3 folder you can get it from the original WAVES install folder - which in my case was: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves"

In the "Waves" folder is a folder called "Waveshells" and in here you will find the file "WaveShell-VST3 9.3_x64.vst3", which you can copy and put in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3" folder

et voila!"
