  • [user reported bug] Strange, new weirdness in PRV - Octave Shift Between Keyboard and Notes On Grid?

Hi Gang...

I've never had this one happen before. I don't know if it's something I accidentally did or a bug of some kind...

I have a song with Session Drummer running in Platinum. SD has been frozen since before Platinum (I believe)...

Running Gloucester on win7Pro x64 under Bootcamp...

All has been well until this happened...

I unfroze SD.
Open the PRV for the MIDI track that feeds it.
All the correct labels appear on the left in place of the keys as I expect...

...but then I notice that all the notes on the grid are an octave shifted from their' triggered sounds... And the confusion is greater.

If I click on the sample name (left) it triggers the sound named... If I click individually on any of the notes, they trigger the expected note and not the sound listed to the left (keyboard area)

It was driving me batty trying to edit so I've stopped for now...

Hoping it's something I've done or can remedy...

Has anyone else see this happen?

Much thanks!

Is this related to the bug where the PRV's piano keyboard doesn't match up with grid? If you zoom the PRV in or out and back does it display correctly?

Hi DRanck...

It may be...

I'll try that tomorrow and post the results...

Thanks for the idea!

Hi Gang...

...just an update. Confirmed! It reset itself as soon as I adjusted zoom.

I don't remember reading of this one. I guess I missed it. I try to stay alert, informed by the many talented and knowledgable people I've been fortunate enough to coo eft with here on this forum.

I guess there's no need for me to bug report if it's already been filed. Or does that still add support for the bug report when multiple people report the same one?

Much thanks! A simple edit today was all but impossible yesterday! ;-)

This miss-aligned keyboard and MIDI channels bug has been around since the first releases of Platinum.  But most everyone that has had this problem gives up when they realize they just need to change the vertical zoom to work around it, so I'm not sure it has ever been formally reported.  There are several other threads with variants of this problem.  The behavior has changed a few times with the different releases, making it harder to get it to happen in some cases (used to be drag-n-dropping MIDI clips would make it happen 100%) but it's still a problem.

If you can reproduce it at will and reliably I'd report it.  I know it drives me nuts but an exact set of steps to make it happen is tricky.  Happened to me twice today on two different MIDI clips in a giant project, but nothing I could make into exact steps.

I've given up any hope that Cakewalk will ever fix this.

Ahhh...this was happening to me also.  Good to know.  I'm a goin' to zoom a little when this happens.

I will look into it more...

If it's been around that long I'm surprised I haven't stumbled on it before. I do a lot of MIDI work.

Sadly, due to my predicament (lack of electricity), I can't do a lot of research and what little I can do is stretched over long periods of time... But I will do what I can...

If I've gotta be stuck with a bug, this is one of the easier to live with...

Thanks for the leads, suggestions, and confirmation...
