From the 'Just because I'd like to know' Dept., When I recover a project from a crash, (which happens 'all the phreaking time' to me) why do some of my Icons come back fuzzy or out of focus? When I restore them they are fine, but initially they  are bad fuzzy. the  tracks work OK, just curious about the icons....

This has been an issue for quite some time with icons getting weird... But as it doesn't actually hurt the track or the actual music, I'm guessing it's low on the priority list for investigation/repair...

I see it often too, and it doesn't require a crash.

Probably more important to figure out why you're crashing all the time compared to the track icon situation.
FWIW I make almost all my own track icons, and don't have the "track icon weirdness" problem. Don't know if it's coincidence or not.

Yup, 'bout given up on figuring out the crashes, many hours spent on many forums, support, knowledgebas docs etc. . Kinda like my tinnitus, learning to live with it. The tracks stay good, no problem with the tunes, just curious. (A little spark of hope that they might lead to an answer bout the constant crashing, but, if ya expect the worst, your rarely disappointed. ) thanks for the response. Good to know its not just me, thanks again!

ive got some really cool icons. custom made for my own guitars, bass, exc.
though back to the issue, poor resolution on icons can sometimes be a video driver issue.
try to look for latest updates.

Hmm...  It mentions that the 0,0 pixel is used as the transparency color.  I wonder if this is the source of the "problem".  My experience is that only certain track icons get futzed up.  Perhaps it's the color of the 0,0 pixel.  Or...you might sidestep it all by doing this...

Cakewalk.ini:
[WinCake]
IconTopLeftPixelTransparent=0

...and disabling the transparency behavior altogether (that is...if it is indeed a transparency issue).

Also...why do they recommend 128x128 bitmaps...and then, in the same article recommend 96x96 pixel 24 bit?
(Or...maybe it's the bit depth?)

Could someone who's in front of their music machine verify this?

I'm surprised by that as well. I make 96 x 96 pixel track icons...maybe that's why I don't have issues?
