I have Line 6 Pod Farm 2 as an effect in a guitar track.  I want to automate the wah treadel.  I have tried to automate it like in Sonar X1 Power and in the Sonar documentation.  I cannot get it to automate.  I have clicked on the wah knob and assigned it to automation knob 1 from within Pod Farm 2.  I then push play and move the knob.  The sound changes but Sonar doesn't seem to record a new envelope. I created a new envelope and assigned it to Knob 1 but it doesn't do anything.

I have tried enabling all parameters (clicking on the W) and just the Knob 1 parameter.

Any suggestions?

As a side note, I got it to work if I assigned the parameter to some other knob other than 1?  I assigned the wah control to knob 16 and it worked.

Have you re-configured the PF plug-in as a Synth? If you haven't it makes it work with midi control. Anyhoo...

You need to hit the little W (make it red) in the PF2 GUI. Press Record (after record arming the track) and wiggle the dial. You will see an envelope being written as the track progresses.
Edit: I had no problem using knob 1. Is there a conflict in the patch you are using?

Thanks for your input.

I did enable the "W" but I did not enable record or push record.  Everthing I have read says that you can just do it when you are in playback mode.  It worked when I assigned it the wah to knob 16 without being in record.

What would conflict with knob 1?  Is there a way to reset everything to start fresh?  Also, how do you configure PF2 as a Soft Synth?  All things I am unaware of.

Sorry for not getting back, I've been playing with some new software...

Right. To configure as a synth you go the Utilities Menu > Plug-in Manager > VST Audio Effects and find the Pod Farm plug-in. Click on it and press the Plug-in Properties button below.
There's a box that you tick - "Configure as a synth". Hit OK.

Now you have to remember to go the the Soft Synths menu when adding PF, not the Audio FX. When configured this way you can use an expression pedal to control the wahs and turn the effects on and off using the controls on a midi keyboard etc.

As for the knob 1 and knob 16 thing - I'd suggest creating a fresh patch, add a wah and then see what happens in Sonar as it should work fine (as nothing would have been assigned to any of the knobs).

Grum.

Will this also work with Automation in the DAW?
