I'm trying to install Sonar 8.5 Producer so I can use some of the plug-ins in Platinum.  I downloaded the install files under my account and tried to install by extracting the file "SONAR_Producer_8_5.exe" and running the "ESD_Setup.exe" file which shows up in the extract folder along with the 5 "*.bin" files, but I keep getting this error message:
 
"Cannot locate the required version of the program on this system. Please install the correct version of the program to use this patch."
 
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what I can do about it?

The SONAR 8.5 download requires SONAR 8.0 be installed prior to running the 8.5 upgrade. It was the first upgrade available as a download. In order to keep the download size small, it depends on 8.0. It is the only download upgrade which is not a complete version. Might as well run the advanced install from the SONAR 8.0 DVD to pick up legacy plug-ins and forget about 8.5.

Thanks for the clear answer which make great sense and jogs my memory.  Unfortunately, I have misplaced both my 8.0 and 8.5 install DVD's and the is no download link for 8.0.  Well, I must have it somewhere so I'll keep looking.
 
PS, I just noticed that I have 2 separate downloads and sets of serial numbers/registration codes for 8.5. Anyone have an idea why that might be?

Found my Sonar 8.5 install disk !  Added the old plug-ins to Platinum.

Good news.
WRT the multiple authentication codes for 8.5, my guess is it is just an error which happened during conversion to the current Single Sign On.
