Can I take advantage of this deal, pay the 119 now, but only download at year end or whenever this version gets its final update?
I have poor internet and only want to download once if possible.
Also, it does not state how far back this update deal applies: X3e Pro still OK, I hope?

You can pay now and never download if you want.
Why would you want to wait to receive something you paid for???
Download now & install, install future updates over the next 12 months as you see fit...

I think the op wants to purchase the upgrade at this price but not start the 12 month cycle right away.

Just like there is no requirement to purchase the product, there is no requirement to download and use it. There is also no reason to expect SONAR will stop being updated 12 months from now. The annual release cycle is no more. If you decide to upgrade, you ought to figure out some way to at least download the current version so you can take advantage of the purchase. Pick up the updates at whatever frequency you choose.

The $119 is for X3 Producer owners.

What I mean is, if I pay now but only download after the offer expires, will I still be allowed to register it?

Yes once you purchase it, it's yours. It will be in your account.

If you purchase from the Cakewalk store, the membership period starts immediately. If you purchase from a third party, the membership starts when you redeem the product code at the Cakewalk site. I do not know if the redemption codes have an expiration date. In either case, it does not matter when you download and activate the product. SONAR will be available for download and activation even after the membership lapses 12 months from now, assuming you elect not to renew your membership.

Is there a way I can find out?

Edit: Oh, sorry. You mean those empty boxes with a paper in it?
OK, no, I will be buying from Cake. No redemption code.

OK, thanks, I think my question is answered.
