Hi all, I try to toggle a footswitch on my POD HD500 with Sonar by sending a Control Change where 0=ON and 127=OFF

UPDATE : 0=ON and 127=OFF is true but after some tests, sending a value of 0 two times will toggle the footswitch anyway

* UPDATE 2018.11 - For the POD HD500, sending a CC# will toggle the switch no matter its value.

When Sonar send the CC #0, the footswitch does not toggle On but it rapidly toggle On and goes Off few milliseconds after...

It should stay ON ! Anyone know how to change this behavior in Sonar ?

POD HD500 - MIDI Control Reference
CC # Value Function
051 0 - 127 Toggles FS1 Assignment On/Off
052 0 - 127 Toggles FS2 Assignment On/Off
053 0 - 127 Toggles FS3 Assignment On/Off
054 0 - 127 Toggles FS4 Assignment On/Off
055 0 - 127 Toggles FS5 Assignment On/Off
056 0 - 127 Toggles FS6 Assignment On/Off

058 0 - 127 Toggles FS8 Assignment On/Off

Do you keep the transport on play after sending the controller message?

Yes!
It's a dedicated midi track, destination is MIDI OUT (5pins) connected directly into the POD MIDI IN and I send the Control change when I start the song....

Ok, I just found the problem, hope my post will help someone.
Don't know if it's an hardware behavior but I MUST first send CC#0 with a value of zero at the beginning of the track.
All other Control Change after this firt dummy CC works well...

I was digging through the POD HD500 manual before seeing your post. I think cc 0 is like a bank select function or something, didn't investigate further now that it's working for you. Glad you got it sorted out.

Yes thanks for your support Anderton,

I can now confirm that it's a bug in Sonar, I have no doubt on it because I can see all the MIDI message in my MIDI debugging environment (I'm a programmer, i have a script that capture all the MIDI messages in a MIDI IN port in real time)

When I start the song, Sonar sends the first control change two times, so that's the reason why my footswitch was toggling On/Off instead of staying On

In the Sonar Event List View, the dedicated track send 2 Control Change
Event 1 : CC#52 / Value : 0 / Channel : 1
Event 2 : CC#53 / Value : 0 / Channel : 1

In my MIDI capture software I capture 3 messages in a row (should be 2 messages)
Message 1 : 176,52,0 (OK)
Message 2 : 176,52,0 (The bug) Not expected
Message 3 : 176,53,0 (OK)

Not sure if sending a CC#0 is the way to go, I will try to find a more 'stable' solution.

Thanks !

Is there any chance there's a MIDI echo happening somewhere? I'll check into it further when I get a chance to see if I can confirm. If there's a bug, then Cakewalk would need a recipe to reproduce. I also have MIDI monitoring hardware and software so it shouldn't be too hard to check.

I don't know if it's a MIDI echo.

But I can said that in my song, there is other Control Change to toggle the footswitch later in the MIDI events and the MIDI CC messages are received once each time. It's just the very frist Control Change in the MIDI events that I receive two times.

It's a very strange behavior in Sonar.
