Hi folks.

I have a problem that began a couple of versions ago with Sonar Platinum (I am currently using Foxboro). When I open certain projects I get short blast of white noise on the channels assigned to he main output of Sonar on my soundcard (RME Ultrafex). I know that there was a bug in an earler version that caused this to happen using templates that was apparently fixed.

Heres where it gets a little weird. I have tracked the problem down to projects where I am using Sample Tank 3, but it only happens  if the browser is open and docked (on the right of the screen) when the project was previously saved. It will then continue to happen every time that project is opened. If I undock and close the browser and resave the project, the noise will not happen upon reopening.

It doesn't happen to every project, so I can't reliably reproduce it. I just know that once it happens, closing the browser and resaving the project fixes it every time.

No big deal - just wondered if anyone else has ecountered any random blasts of white noise as projects are opening?

Thanks:)

Bruce.

Is a sample rate being changed somewhere?

Thanks for the response Craig. There is no sample rate change - the UFX IS SET to 44.1khz prior to loading the project or template, both of which are also set to 44.1khz.

I suspect the issue may be with Sample Tank 3 being loaded via either a track or project template.

I am just downloading and installing Gloucester to see if that helps. I have noticed in the past that sometimes an update can reset whatever quirky problems have arisen even though they are system specific. Here's hoping:)

Run windows update everywhere.
Consider updating your firmware and drivers for your audio interface. Uninstall old drivers and then reboot. If you are on current up to date drivers might be worth reinstalling via the same method.

Thanks Doktor Avalanche - windows and all drivers are already up to date. I have also tried a clean install of the RME drivers to no avail.

OK probably brings it back to plugins then. One of them is opening the audio Try opening in Sonar safe mode that should rule it out. You can disable all or some problem plugins.

As I mentioned I suspect it is Sample Tank 3 Dr Avalanche, but only when it is loaded through a tempate. I can't fathom why closing the Sonar  browser and re-saving the projects stops it happening though! The same plugins are still loading.

Right, last post was seeing if you could actually rule out if it was actually Ozone. Having said that I'm not sure safe mode will work for templates.

Yes - I narrowed it down to ST3 by removing it from the offending projects. It is no deal breaker and easily avoided by closing the browser before saving. Just puzzling! Thanks again for the ideas Dr Avalanche:)
