Updated to Windows 10 and now Sonar won't work with this interface even with the latest drivers.  Anyone else having this problem?

Can you see it in your Preferences > Audio - Devices list? Is it selected?

First thing to check.

Oh yes.  It's listed and checked on.  Just says it's unable to load the audio device.  I've confirmed the Focusrite works just fine with everything else on my system.

If being used for system sounds, be sure the "exclusive modes" are unchecked in system properties. Another program most likely has exclusive control of it.

Try uninstalling mixcontrol, rebooting, reinstalling. Then reset everything within mix control.

I agree with Mettelus. Sounds like something else is hogging the device. Do you have other programs running when this happens?

If not it could simply be Windows Sounds hogging the device (which is best totally disabled on a DAW). I don't use 10 so I don't know how you'd turn that off.

Of course the other thing Mettelus is saying about "exclusive" stuff would keep it from happening even if other stuff is running... as I am starting to slowly learn about.

Thing is if you just upgraded to Windows 10 it likely totally fracked up any previous settings, optimizations and tweaks you previously did in Windows to make your audio stuff work. I'd go through and figure out how to set things back to how they were.

MS being "helpful" with their whacked out default settings... as usual.

Cheers.

Great tip.  Mine were checked on and I unchecked them but this did not solve the problem.

The error still comes up as follows:

"Unable to open audio playback device. Device may not support the current project's audio format or may be in use."

Sonar opens with the Focusrite 2i2 interface enable to 96khz/16bit by default.  This has always worked fine prior to the Win10 update.

I appreciate the help so far and I look forward to more suggestions.

That seems premature at this point. Good idea if all else fails but rather drastic and may not even be the issue.

Again it is probably occupied with system sounds (which do not match those samplerates). Check to see if Windows Sounds are enabled.

Unchecking use Windows Sounds in the OS sound settings did the trick.  So Sonar will only work if there's no system sounds enabled.  That's kinda ****ed but oh well.
