  • Two Issues with Platinum: Pitch Bend CC and Linked Clips

I've not seen this behavior with all the versions of Sonar I've used.

1.  When I open a file, I am noticing that one of the MIDI tracks is playing back one whole tone higher than it should be.  Somehow a pitch bend message is being sent because if I just wiggle my pitch bend lever on my keyboard the problem is resolved.  But then next time I open the same file, a different MIDI track displays same behavior.   I've never seen this before.

2.  When composing in the staff view I notice when I open track view that the new clips I create are being linked to each other or other clips.  I don't want them linked, and have never seen this behavior prior to Platinum either.  I have to manually unlink them which I've never had to do before.

Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks!

1. Disabling "Always Echo Current MIDI Track" in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recordingmay help.

Hi Jerry - Are you using the Event Filter MFX, by any chance? I just noticed I have had the same thing happen on a track where the pitch bend became "sticky" and it seems to be related to the Event Filter - at least here. I can flick off the Event Filter "power" button and the problem clears up if I then also toggle the pitch bend wheel. FWIW I am filtering wheel and CC#1 events here.

Does the pitchbend also happen when your keyboard is not connected at all? It's quite common for pitch bend potmeters to break at some point.

I use the event filter all the time, not sure what it has to do with pitch wheel sticking.  I haven't ever used the event filter to filter wheel events..
