I've been looking into getting one of these plug-ins. Seen a video which talks about in Logic Pro X which does seem quite a cool effect. Some stuff I do with string libraries uses two reverbs - one front impulse and a rear impulse however I don't think it takes any notice of the different frequencies at the "back of your head". I imagine it's not phase cancelling because of the two different impulses although is there a better way to do this.

This plug-in sticks the audio into a 3d space by panning everything around a virtual headspace.

That's also cool but can you keep this thing static You don't want to be giving people motion sickness when listening to music.

There's NX which can emulate your headspace however this is designed to emulate a room through your headphones. I already have his however I'm not sure that is going to work well or be CPU efficient enough.

The noisemaker would be pretty cool however at about £200 it's a fiscally out of reach currently. The Waves one if I could just slow down enough or even just keep static would be better. I'm probably asking a bit too much as usual. You know me, always asking the easy questions.

Before you blow money on an HRTF effect, bear in mind that the effect only works if you listen with IEMs, not so much with speakers or even over-ear headphones.

You can find some sample recordings (nature sounds) here. There is also a page there that talks about how the recordings were made and how best to experience them. It's pretty cool, but do you really want to have to include listening instructions with your own mixes?

I dare say these effects work better over surround speakers or the spatial of headphones. I demoed Brauer Motion. Suppose I was just wanting creative effects. The Doppler effect is close to what I'm looking for however I don't want any pitch drift.

Hey, thanks for that link!

There's also a few binaural field recordings here.  6 of them are binaural, the rest used various other recording techniques.  The Bird Symphony is my favorite.  http://www.luftrum.com/free-field-recordings/

That was cool. Somebody should make a 30-minute sleep aid. I'd like to hear a seashore version with lapping/crashing waves, seagulls in three dimensions and a distant foghorn.

Even better, have an orchestra conductor don the binaural microphones so we can hear what a symphony sounds like from his perspective at the podium.

I just had a chance to play with Brauer Motion on a project and it it is VERY cool plugin. If you like creating motion in your sounds, it's worth checking out.

I tried it on a Taiko loop I programmed some time ago in Battery. The difference is subtle however it doesn't feel as static as before.  The left channel is spinning at a different speed from the right so gives it syncopated feel. It's pretty unique being able to effectively handle each channel differently.

I still feel like it's look like a cheap sci-fi prop from a TV show though.

If you like that sort of thing, there are two FREE plugins you should play with: PanCake from Cableguys and MAutoPan from Meldaproduction's free bundle.

Pancake lets you draw any kind of curve you want, which is fun but kinda hit 'n miss. MAutoPan gives you adjustable LFO waveforms, not as adjustable as Pancake's but easier to use and can be modulated. Plus it supports M/S processing. Want even more motion? MAutoPan's big brother, MAutoPanMB, is currently on sale.

Just gotta say, I've had a lot of fun with Pancake!!!

I like Waves, Izotope, SPL (Brainworx) and most stuff from Audio Damage at the moment. I'm just going through a phase of building up Plug-ins on requirement rather than needless purchases.

I must be the only person who isn't won over by the CLA series though with the exception of LA76,LA2A, LA3A emulations.
