• SONAR
  • TTS1: There isn't a way to add more sounds to this synth is there?

I'm guessing that this isn't the type of soft synth where you can cram your own sounds/samples/etc into. Figured I'd ask though just in case.

Are there expansion packs for it that go beyond what comes with the Sonar version (SPlat and Producer series owner since X1)?

If not... totally fine. Just curious. It's old school but now that I know how to work it it's pretty cool. I was making it do some pretty nasty stuff as is.

Cheers.

Yeah, that's cool. Plenty of other synths for that anyway. I just like the 16 channel aspect. AFAICT the more massive/modern synths don't have nearly as many independent voices/outputs (DimPro only has 4).

Thanks.

However, don't forget there are some editing options that can alter the existing sounds.

The synth is designed so it can play arbitrary General MIDI files. The sounds provided comply with the GM2 spec. When a MIDI file is opened in SONAR and no MIDI output device is defined, the TTS-1 is automatically mapped to the MIDI file.

Oh yeah, I just spent a couple hours messing around with pretty much everything in there. My problem before was I couldn't really figure out the channel stuff. I set up a few different MIDI tracks with echo enabled, switched to the correct channels and started combining sounds... then came the effects editing (within TTS). Things got a little crazy... lol.

Yeah, I knew that but I've never actually seen it do its automagic thing. I might have to try it out just to see what exactly happens.

I've got a lot more synths to cover though. I did some of this a while back but I kind of started on the other end of the spectrum (the FM synths... you were helping me with that back then too). Now I'm trying to go through everything. I also understand everything more too so there is less head scratching and navel picking.

Might actually make these things useful to what I do.

For automatic TTS-1 mapping make sure there are no MIDI output devices enabled in preferences.

Noted. I do have the Oxygen 25 (and I guess my Scarlett outs) enabled even though I have no reason to. I don't have anything (that's currently operational) to feed.

Cheers.

Don't forget the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. I am not sure if it is enabled by default or not.
