  • X1 to Sonar Platinum upgrade? Should I?

Hi all,  It's been a while.  I've been using X1 since it came out.  Was on 8.5.4 before that.  The change to X1 was a bit jarring at first.  ( I still don't like how you have to open the pro channel first before you can make an EQ tweak on a track.)

I'm on W7/64 and a new machine.  Is there enough improvements in Platinum and the new update path to make a switch worth it?

I know it is a vague question, I guess I just want to hear what you all think.  I know today is the last day for the drum mixing bundle too.  Have people liked that?

Thanks,

Erik

X3 is no longer for sale, but if you already own a copy the X3e version (be sure to update to that patch) has significant improvements to features/stability over X1d.

Do not think you can purchase X3 any more, is the upgrade worth it, possibly only you can answer that for yourself.  Personally I am enjoying the new model and as for S-Plat it is a dream to use.

Yeah, I forgot that it is no longer X3.  Platinum is what I meant.  (fixed)

Go for Platinum - it's worth every penny you pay for the upgrade (check out the new features here and the tremendous list of fixes that came with the monthly updates)

Platinum has a lot of additional content/fixes over X3, so is that much further along. Platinum has a demo as of last month, so you can install/play with it, but it will not save/export.

I was on the fence, but leaning toward upgrading.  You all just pushed me over.  :)

Thanks!

Platinum has significant features you will love. Firstly. Platinum really works with you on the screensizes. It does have great stability and many under the hood improvements will amaze you. I could name them for you. But there are too many. So all I can say.... The extra's alone are well worth it. The main thing for me was. I have large and small screens. Because I hop between three machines. A laptop and two studio machines. All in their own spaces. And I have a studio machine in a rack with a small screen on top (15 inch). And using the screen sets I can easily navigate and change screens using the numbers above the querty keyboard I use. And it's fast and convenient.
