Ya, it's about bloody time. This should have happened in the early aughts at the latest.

Unfortunately where I'm at "someone" decided at the last minute to toss a wrench into the (all ready to go) works and now it is only available by ordering online until at least the spring. No retail at all.

I mean I KIND of prefer what the supposed end result will be (private retail lincenses as opposed to a gov monopoly on the biz like it is with booze) but it just seems like a skeevy delay tactic and perhaps a big ole info grab on potheads via the online store.

I am unamused with my province at the moe.

But drugs provided so much great music and art to my life...can't be all bad, right?

Where I live they managed to get medical use passed, and surprisingly enough the local government has complied pretty well despite being vehemently against it.  Now we have recreational coming up on the ballot in a few weeks and I can't wait to vote YES YES YES, baby!!

Here too many making money under the table so it will never be legal in Louisiana. It’s a class 1 felony here I think. I know a few people can go oil for certain conditions

Well if they're high... that's a good thing IMO.

@Voda... Good luck. It's an even dumber/more futile prohibition than booze was.

I've been in Vietnam for almost 6 years. 2 weeks ago I was at a venue, a stack of police turned up. Closed the bar, killed the music, and none of us could leave until we all pissed in a pot. Strangely they were testing or cannabis and opium. 11 guys were detained, passpors confiscated, they collected the next day with cancelled visa (that they just ha to do a Visa run t replace) and a fine.

6 years, I've never heard of this happening here. It was just an open mic night, hardly a rave, just a guy sat on a stool playing Latin music on his guitar. The president had died, so the country was in two days of mourning, not you could tell from the streets and locals,

I don't smoke - although I've indulged when I was a teenager. But it has a very nasty and unpleasant effect on me. That being said, I've always hated the smell and, the only thing worst than the smell: the cult of weed. Usually comes with a Che Guevara poster and a Bob Marley mix tape.

That being said, I am very happy for all my friends who shed to indulge legally and just proud that Canada took that step.

Incidentally... I seem to observe that people who like pot are often already on the mellower side of the spectrum - not to say that they don't suffer from anxiety and such, but they're often the ones who like to relax, play games, watch movies -  whereas people who are naturally more of the high energy type will crave things that will exaggerate that trait, legal or not, whether it's coffee, energy drink or other substances...  Weird.

I just can't get over the shift in perception toward marijuana.  Back in my heyday, you could get into some serious trouble with a minuscule amount of low grade marijuana in your possession. And now there are cannabis stores all over town where I live.
And yet, weirdly enough, THC is considered a Schedule One controlled substance by the federal government, right up there with heroin.
