Unfortunately I think the original pre-master file for an old album may be lost. I know for certain the "producer" reused the tapes we tracked to originally which really ticked me off because I'd really prefer to remix it... however I'm thinking I may not even be able to get the premaster either.
So my only other option would be to "master" the CD. By that I mean ripping one of the 44.1/16bit discs and trying to fix it. It's always been way too harsh and bright. We were trying to make your ears bleed but in a PLEASANT way. It's still a great album but it is fatiguing to the ears to listen to. Especially through headphones. I'm kind of hoping to redo it and bundle it with the new album because they are both so short and I think all the original copies are sold out (aside from the few unsealed copies I have in my stash).
So yeah... I know it ain't ideal but I don't think there is going to be any other choice.
