You are not compelled to update should they change your daw to a daw you don't like / can't use so it's all good. Just wait after each update for a few days until it seems cool to update.

NAY!!!!
As a former lifetimer (I know, I know, we don't matter anymore), such an approach would be extra-unappreciated.

Right now I have faith bandlab will be doing things in the best interest of this product so...
NAY!
Also, I (and many others) OWN it (SONAR PLAT) and believe that will stay that way so if I chose to later NOT upgrade, I won't.  Except for powr 3 dithering, EVERYTHING I used before CBB now is working perfectly so I will support Bandlab for now and pay close attention to their decisions going forward

Until we got the unlock key on our disks, we don't own Splat, sorry to dispel someone's dream.

Pow-r dithering was added to CbB 24.04.1.28

To the OP, it would be a No from me.

My vote is a resounding       NAY!

As for you revenue plan, don't kill the goose.  I think Meng knows what he is doing as does Noel.  Together, we can trust that these guys have us in good hands.

I believe that tecknot pretty much said it. I believe in Meng and Noel. Adding that to the time they spent with the Cakewalk Forum and Craig, it becomes hard to fathom that they would not know and/or do what is best for the Cakewalk Community. They brought Cakewalk Sonar very far very quickly when it was a Gibson Brand and their continued efforts for Cakewalk by BandLab are very much appreciated and needed. Change is good in the right hands. You guys rock!

My only grief is the "Last Sonar Upgrade you will ever buy" and "Lifetime Updates" I paid extra for when I purchased Sonar Platinum.

Disk? what disk?
There will be no unlock code because there is no reason for Bandlab to waist the time it would take to code that and deliver it. Talk about a lot of work just to please?? who?? It is not their problem anyway. The status Quo have moved on and there is no logical reason to use the legacy version of Splat anymore. The few who choose to do so are a very small minority so are left behind to fend for themselves. This is fine, each to there own.  Bandlab will be focusing on making Cakewalk grow and improve. At this point you'd have to be very paranoid to think otherwise.

And nobody ever "owns" software, you only have a licence to use it. How many times does this have to be repeated around here before everyone "get's it"

And there is no plan to remove the servers that activate the legacy products. My guess is that by the time that happens the world will be a different place and there will be only a handful of people who would notice.
