I still think it is an excellent idea And as someone earlier in this thread said, it would / should be stock plugins only.

I like the idea. It will bring the community closer.

@ Mudgel Although not my speciality or core business I can design webpages.

How about a place where I could place, dump, upload my songs that could be remixed, mixed or tweaked to the liking of the community like a remix place....

For instance Ilan Bluestone (Cause he is the only cakewalk celeb I know, sorry relative new user) would dump a song and every body who wants works on it. Who knows mayby a workable remix would be produced by somebody here. And ofcourse visaversa.

I think that prizes would be secondary then... or would it gain less traction this way?

I guess we turn towards Craig and startup with one of his songs.....

If we gain attention it would be worth giving prizes away for 3rd parties I think.

It is important to define what remix actually means. In one sense it means everyone just remixes the tracks or stems so everyone ends up with the same piece of music but mixed differently.

Or the real meaning of remix is a totally new piece of music is created out of the provided samples, tracks or stems etc..(as per Indaba Music remix comps) And the further away from the provided material the better. ie a total composition type of comp.

There should be no restrictions either on what you use and how either. (at least for the new piece of music vibe)

So what it is going to be.

As per my initial thread, I'm gauging interest and getting ideas not starting a remix competition. judging by some of the posts it may be something entirely different. There's only been about 25 different users in this thread.

Hey Mike.  I am only mentioning this because I got caught with an Indaba remix comp.  I spent a LOT of time on an entry a while ago.  I mainly remixed the track and changed it only slightly here and there but found out later that is not what they meant or wanted.  It is good to clarify this earlier rather than later.  Either way would be fine.  Good idea though.

My band did a remix contest and gave a $500 cash prize away as well as nationwide and beyond DJ record pool promotion and promo and grats from us personally of course.

What up CakesterZ? This is a genius idea. You should #DoIt

Jimmy Landry, is this not a genius idea? Cakewalk remix contest, at lest annually?

#GENIUS
