  • How to display EQ response curve with Sonar

Just watched another video where EQ response is shown on an analyzer while EQ settings are changed (FYI: Boz Millar talking about Pultecs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJq9y0ClwRg and another one where he showed how oversampling may fix EQ "squooshing" at higher frequencies) ...

Now I wonder how I could quickly and easily create that inside Sonar, best just using Sonar stock plugs, although I got voxengo span at hand ...

If you have the inspector open... Double click on the eq display and it will open the flyout that contains the analyzer display...

Thanks ... but I don't think I was clear enough. These videos show the EQ curve that results from other plugs that do not have analyzer displays like the flyout ...

It must be something like sending white noise into e.g. a pultec EQ and then route it to voxengo span and somehow show the difference between EQed and original signal ...

Yeah - I was able to replicate it by looping white noise sourced from here:
http://www.audiocheck.net/testtones_highdefinitionaudio.php
(Just from the Pultec to SPAN/QuadCurve Analyzers. I didn't bother trying to setup ins/outs to pass data between Analyzers/EQs).

QuadCurveEQ Flyout Analyzer is the best Sonar onboard Analyzer but:
- signal flow means you have to apply the Pultec to ProChannel as an FX Chain (prior to the EQ), or forward the track, with the Pultec in the FX bin, to a Bus with the PC EQ on it
- ... and whilst interesting to see, it does not have the configurability of SPAN.

With SPAN use:
Dual Mono Routing
and set via User Mode Edit for both L/R channels:
Disable 'Filled Display' and '2nd Spectrum'
Smoothing to '1 Oct'
Slope to 0
Use 'RT AVG'
... and according to preference from there.
